I’ve Been to the Other Side.

About one week ago The Husband and I were pulling into our driveway, weathered, hungry, and sad. Why? Well we had just returned from one of the best months of our lives. We had made the journey from North Texas to the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Then from Oregon, we traveled all the way to Bozeman, Montana. And then all the way back to North Texas. It was an interesting, tasty, and fun adventure that we wished would never end.

We spent our time in Oregon, mainly in 3 cities.

Portland

Salem

And Eugene

But spent a good amount of time on the coast.

And allowed plenty of time for the woods.

We saw waterfalls.

And we frolicked in tulips.

We saw underwater animals.

And watched hockey.

We shopped for fresh produce.

And went to one of the most amazing recycling centers.

We went to a record store (the one The Husband proposed at).

And visited the greatest bookstore.

We went on factory tours.

The cheesy.

The grainy.

And the alcoholic.

We found a new favorite restaurant that made our bellies grow.

We had Thai food.

And Chinese food.

We had TONS of pizza.

We had vegan cupcakes.

And roller derby cupcakes.

We had doughnuts.

We even got dog doughnuts for the pups.

And we drank… A LOT!

We went to Oregon Garden’s Brewfest

We went beer shopping.

And beer sampling.

It was an amazing month. And it’s been a challenge being back in the “real world”. As The Dad told me via text: “It sucks being a grown up”; those words could not be more true. There was a certain level of normalcy to the nomadic life we lived. The time we spent in the Pacific North West only made us dislike Texas even more. But hey, there is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel.
